A little under 2 weeks ago I found the light at the end of the tunnel! I have dug thousands of holes in the short 3 years I have been detecting. I feel like I have dug holes to China and back. One weekend I thought I would count how many bullets and bits of junk I accumulated over the last couple of days; I counted a little over 250 pieces. I guessed maybe 100, no wonder why I felt so sore the next day. That is a lot of holes that I had dug. Every time I go out detecting I find that we learn more each time, there is always room for improvement. My dream has always been to find a nice piece of gold to wear as a necklace piece.
A year or so ago, my man who has guided me through all my detecting days bought me the Coiltek 10×5 Gold Extreme coil for my SDC 2300 for my birthday. I am very happy with my 10×5 Gold Extreme coil, it is so sensitive and punches depth. I had never found anything over a gram until just under 2 weeks ago when I pulled out a 2.5-ounce piece of gold. It blew me away and still does to this today. I have had to look at it a few times as it still doesn’t seem real. I ran 500 meters to my man who was also detecting. He dropped to the ground in surprise. I never would have imagined that I would ever pull something of that size out of the ground. All that effort over these short years of persisting in the goldfields has finally paid off! I always say to dig everything as you just do not know what lies beneath.
